AES DANA

DIGITALIS !!! This could be the soundtrack of my phd thesis...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v64Wax7T_1Q

Info:

Aes Dana was born from the meeting of Vincent Villuis, former member of goa chill band Asura, and Sunbeam (aka Mahiane) who spins english progressive vinyls, Aes Dana stands as a coherent fusion of both styles.

They bring out deep sounds rooted in the psychedelic tradition, in a fluid down tempo morning trance. Both musicans tend to create evocative sound textures, opening as a traveling over their analogical dreams. Short tales made of samples and waves, energised by tribal beats. Soundtrack for the early party letting time for the moon and the tempo to set, or for afters to slow down the nocturnal excesses and celebrate the return of the Sun. Aes dana’s music is to be enjoyed between the veils.

Caribou

Daniel Victor Snaith (born 1978), better known by the stage names Caribou and Manitoba, is a Canadian electronic musician.

Snaith was born in London, Ontario and grew up in Dundas, Ontario. Snaith attended Parkside Secondary School and later studied mathematics at the University of Toronto and later at Imperial College London (PhD). He is the son of Victor Snaith, a mathematics professor at the University of Sheffield, and the brother of Anna and Nina Snaith, a reader in mathematics at the University of Bristol.

Snaith previously recorded under the stage name Manitoba, but changed his name in 2004 under threat of an American lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba[1], the stage name of The Dictators frontman Richard Blum. As Snaith himself commented, "It's like The Smiths suing John Smith or something".[2][3]

Snaith usually performs with a live band when playing gigs, often assuming the role of percussionist. Currently, Snaith's live band is made up of himself, Ryan Smith, Brad Weber, and John Schmersal. (Former bassist Andy Lloyd now plays with Born Ruffians and former percussionist Peter Mitton is now a radio producer for CBC.) Sets also often include complex video projections on a large screen, a DVD of which was released in November 2005. "[I]n music I will have an idea to put some different sounds together or a melody that meshes with a chord sequence or a sonic mood," said Snaith in an interview. "I'm not the type of person who takes physical things apart and plays around with them, but I like taking mental ideas apart and playing around with them. That's what appeals to me about what I've spent my life doing."[4]

He completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at Imperial College London in 2005. His thesis, titled Overconvergent Siegel Modular Symbols, was written under the direction of Kevin Buzzard.[5] Snaith currently resides in London, United Kingdom.

His 2007 album Andorra was named the winner of the 2008 Polaris Music Prize,[6] and his 2010 album Swim was on the 2010 Polaris Music Prize shortlist.[7]

Nicolette - School of the World

Nicolette (born Nicolette Suwoton) is a UK singer-songwriter of Nigerian parentage. Living in London as of 2010, she was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and has lived in Nigeria, Switzerland, France, and Belgium. Her music, although falling broadly into the field of electronica, is characterised by many influences, including, jazz, classical, blues, folk, and African. This has resulted in a highly individualistic sound due in part to the diverse variety of music her father played and taught her as a child. Known for her distinctive sensual, childlike voice, she has been described as "Billie Holliday on acid"[citation needed].

She has released three solo albums, as well as a DJ mix album for the DJ-Kicks series, and featured on "Three" and "Sly", two songs on Massive Attack's 1994 Protection album. She has worked with many other collaborators in the electronic music field, including Plaid, Alec Empire, and 4 Hero. In 1999 she set up her own record label, Early Records, upon leaving Talkin’ Loud to release quirky pop anthems. According to Nicolette, Early Records' music policy is: "innovative pop music."[1] Nicolette's 2005 album, Life Loves Us, was released through the label.

In 2007 Nicolette's "No Government" was re-released and remixed by DJ Tocadisco and Makossa & Megablast.

In 2008 Nicolette contributed vocals to John Tejada's album "Where", she sings and co-wrote the track "Desire". Her fourth studio album is expected in 2010. Nicolette has released a new single called "Love" with DJ Cam in March 2010.

Juno Reactor - Swamp Thing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_lxJdV-2Kk

Juno Reactor are a musical and performing act known for the cinematic fusion of electronic, orchestral and global music. Central to the project is Ben Watkins, and his collaborations with a constantly changing ensemble of musicians from across the world, including percussionistMabi Thobejane from South Africa along with countrymenAmampondo, Eduardo Niebla, Steve Stevens, Greg Ellis, Taz Alexander, Ghetto Priest, Sugizo and recently Yasmin Levy. They also collaborated with composer Don Davis for the musical score of the film The Matrix.

Originally Juno Reactor was formed as an art project in 1990; Ben Watkins wanted to collaborate with other artists to produce and be involved in exciting projects that were not commercially driven. He wanted to create experimental music/non musical soundtracks that would work with installations, art pieces and film projects.
