joy division - decades...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMAB3r6EjcM

Joy Division were an English rock band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. Originally named Warsaw, the band primarily consisted of Ian Curtis (vocals and occasional guitar), Bernard Sumner (guitar and keyboards),[1] Peter Hook (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Stephen Morris (drums and percussion).

Joy Division rapidly evolved from their initial punk rock influences, to develop a sound and style that pioneered the post-punk movement of the late 1970s. According to music critic Jon Savage, the band "were not punk but were directly inspired by its energy".[2] Their self-released 1978 debut EP, An Ideal for Living, caught the attention of the Manchester television personality Tony Wilson. Joy Division's debut album,Unknown Pleasures, was released in 1979 on Wilson's independent record label Factory Records, and drew critical acclaim from the British press. Despite the band's growing success, vocalist Ian Curtis was beset with depression and personal difficulties, including a dissolving marriage and his diagnosis with epilepsy. Curtis found it increasingly difficult to perform at live concerts, and often had seizures during performances.

On the eve of the band's first American tour in May 1980, Curtis, overwhelmed with depression, committed suicide. Joy Division's posthumously released second album, Closer (1980), and the single "Love Will Tear Us Apart" became the band's highest charting releases. After the death of Curtis, the remaining members reformed as New Order, achieving critical and commercial success.

TERRORVISION - SOME PEOPLE SAY

Popo... san na sou leei ante kai g....ou..:

lyrics:

Some people say that what I know should be kept secret
Some people say I don't know anything at all
Some people say that what I do could be dangerous
Some people say I don't do anything at all
Some people say this is a song that needs the drums in
Some people say no it's a song for the bass
Some people say that they can't stand what they're hearing
Some people say who gives a damn what they say
Do you think I care, do you think I care
Do you think I know or I'm aware
Do you think I care what you say when I'm oblivious
Some people say that I look just like my father
Some people say I've got my mother's eyes
Some people say I'm like my brother 'cos I'm honest and truthful
Some people say they know my brother's just another lie
Do you think I care, do you think I care
Do you think I know or I'm aware
Do you think I care what you say when I'm oblivious
Some people say that we should let the search continue
Some people say just what the hell's going on
Do you think I care, do you think I care
Do you think I know or I'm aware
Do you think I care what you say when I'm oblivious
Do you think I care, do you think I care
Do you think I know or I'm aware
Do you think I care what you say when I'm oblivious

बद्मार्ष एंड श्री - Signs

Badmarsh & Shri
are an electronic/trip hop duo from London, UK

Prior to their formation, Badmarsh (whose name means 'rascal' in Hindi) worked at the reggae studio Easy Street; which was hiring PA equipment to a nightclub called Labyrinth. After a visit to Labyrinth, he became interested in DJing, and almost immediately went out to buy DJ turntables and records; he later secured a residency position at the club, where he remained for five years. Shri, on the other hand, had spent five years touring with Nitin Sawhney, who later produced his debut solo album Drum the Bass. The album was well received in Europe.

The duo came together through Shabs, head of Outcaste Records, who thought that the pair's individually different sounds would complement each other in a group. The duo released their debut album Dancing Drums in 1998, which contained a culmination of drum and bass, hip hop, Indian classical music and jazz

In 2001, Badmarsh & Shri released their second album, Signs (co-produced by Mike Spencer) through Outcaste Records. A continuation of their musical migration[1], the album was considered panoramic dance music by the record's publishers, switching between dancefloor music, and a more sensuous, chilled style.

"We wanted to make music that moved you on the dancefloor as well as at home. Everything had to be emotive, whether it made you angry or made you swoon. But it also had to funk. We wanted it to be about feeling rather than thinking - that was our vision,"

The duo drew their inspiration from their respective backgrounds of dancehall and hip-hop, as well as funk, Latin and African rhythms. They also made use of strings, synthesizers and flute, along with the vocal talents of UK Apache, who is also considered an integral part of live shows.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS

Manic Street Preachers (often referred to as the Manics) are an alternative rock band from Blackwood, Wales, formed in 1986. They are James Dean Bradfield (vocals, guitars), Nicky Wire (bass, occasional vocals) and Sean Moore (drums, backing vocals, occasional trumpet). The band is part of the Cardiff music scene, most prominently during the 1990s.

The band were originally a quartet: lyricist and rhythm guitarist Richey Edwards mysteriously vanished on 1 February 1995.[2] In November 2008, 13 years after his disappearance, he was officially declared presumed deceased.[3]

The Manics released their debut album Generation Terrorists in 1992.[4] Their combination of androgynous glam punk imagery, outspoken invective and songs about "culture, alienation, boredom and despair" soon gained them a loyal following and cult status.[5][6][7] The band's later albums retained a politicized and intellectual lyrical style, while adopting a broader alternative rock sound.[8] Enigmatic lyricist Richey Edwards gained early notoriety by carving the words "4 REAL" into his arm with a razor blade (narrowly missing an artery and requiring seventeen stitches) in response to the suggestion that the band were less than authentic.[9] The dark nature of 1994's The Holy Bible reflected the culmination of Edwards' instability.[10]

Following Edwards' disappearance, Bradfield, Moore, and Wire persisted with the Manic Street Preachers and went on to gain critical and commercial success, becoming one of Britain's premier rock bands.[11]They have had eight top ten albums and fifteen top ten singles. They have reached number one three times, with their 1998 album This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours[12] and the singles "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next" (1998)[13] and "The Masses Against The Classes" (2000).[14] They have also won the Best British Album and Best British Group accolades at the BRIT Awards in 1997 and 1999, and were lauded by the NME for their lifetime achievements in 2008.[15] Their ninth studio album, Journal For Plague Lovers, was released on 18 May 2009 and features lyrics Edwards had left behind to the band weeks before his disappearance.[16]

WIM MERTENS - OFTEN A BIRD

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wim Mertens (b. Neerpelt, Belgium, May 14, 1953) is a Flemish Belgian composer, countertenor vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and musicologist.

Mertens studied social and political science at the University of Leuven (graduating in 1975) and musicology at Ghent University; he also studied music theory and piano at the Royal Conservatories of Ghent and Brussels.

In 1978, he became a producer at the then BRT (Belgian Radio and Television, now called Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep). For Radio 2 (Radio Brabant) he produced concerts by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Meredith Monk, Urban Sax and others, and hosted a program called Funky Town together with Gust De Meyer (with whom he recorded the experimental CD For Amusement Only).

Known primarily as a composer since the late 1970s, Mertens is best known for his opus "Struggle for Pleasure". He is also well known for his piece "Maximizing the Audience", which was composed for Jan Fabre's play The Power of Theatrical Madness, which premiered in 1984 in Venice, Italy.

Mertens' style has continually evolved during the course of his prolific career, starting from downright experimental and avant-garde, always gravitating around minimalism, usually, however, preserving a melodic foundation to the forays that he makes into the worlds that he is exploring. His compositional quality has often overweighted the "labelling issue" and reached wider audiences although stemming from a far-from-mainstream musical context (see section In popular culture).

Mertens has released more than 50 albums to date, the majority of which were issued by Les Disques du Crépuscule from 1980 until 2004. Mertens also produced a number of Crépuscule releases and consulted with the label on its choice of works by contemporary composers such as Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars, and Glenn Branca. Mertens also curated a series of releases for a Crépuscle imprint, Lome Armé, that featured works from the classical era as well as contemporary jazz.

Mertens' music was used in the 1987 Peter Greenaway film The Belly of an Architect, along with that of Glenn Branca also in the Dutch-British film Shadow Man (1988), directed by Piotr Andrejew, as well as in the Brazilian documentary Nós que Aqui Estamos por Vós Esperamos (Here We Are Waiting for You).

Mertens is the author of American Minimal Music,[1] which looks at the school of American repetitive music.

In March 1998 Mertens became the Cultural Ambassador of Flanders.

Mertens can be heard on the CD Indeterminate Activity of Resultant Masses of Glenn Branca, which published an interview of Mertens with John Cage.

In August 2007 Mertens signed a contract with EMI Classics for his entire catalog.[2] The label has prepared an ambitious re-release plan of his back-catalog which will start in January 2008. His "oeuvre intégrale" will be made available digitally and worldwide. But first EMI Music Belgium released Mertens' newest (51st) 9-track album Receptacle on September 24, 2007. For this album Mertens decided to work with an orchestra consisting of only women, 17 in total. It is not the first time that Mertens has worked together with EMI. Already in 1999 Mertens released the soundtrack to the Paul Cox film Molokai: The Story of Father Damien via EMI Classics.

New work released in 2008 includes the CD L'heure du loup which, similar to some of his experimental works, contains a series of tracks based on one work, the previously released Hors nature. Mertens also released a box set of six volumes from his liveYears Without History series, the sixth volume of which (The Promise Kept in Advance) is only available with the box set. A seventh volume, Nosotros, was also released in 2008. It contains a recording from July 2002 at the Kasteeldomein van Gaasbeek in Belgium, the live premiere of material that would later be released on the Skopos CD.

Scsi 9

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef1bqD5oCEg

"SCSI-9" are Anton Kubikov and Maxim Milyutenko.

Anton Kubikov was born in 1975 in Moscow. He started his career in 1994 playing at one of the first Moscow's techno clubs - the "Hermitage". This was the time when club culture was rapidly developing in Moscow; soon he became a very popular figure on the city's DJ scene being constantly invited to perform at such dance clubs like "Treasure Island", "Moby Dick", "Ptyuch", "Utopia", "X-Dance" and others. It's so easy to find replica watches of different models and brands online.

In 1995 he created his own radio show on Russia's first dance FM radio called the "Station". Until its closing in 2001 the "Station" (together with its non-commercial affiliate "Substancia") was the only radio station in Russia exclusively devoted to the modern trends of electronic music. In 1997 Kubikov started making his own tracks. In the past few years his projects "SCSI-9", "Multipliar", "Hero City Movers", "Snowboarder" and "Snooker Boy" became very popular on the Moscow underground electronic scene.

Today together with Maxim Milyutenko he runs his own electronic studio at the broadcasting center near the Moscow TV tower. His music had over 15 releases mainly on German vinyl labels such as "Force Tracks", "Trapez", "Salo", "Traum" and "Freizeitglauben". In Russia he released his first album as Anton Kubikov and made a number of remixes for Russian pop artists. Since 2000 he plays his music live in Russia and Germany, where most part of the audience knows him as "SCSI-9" rather than DJ Kubikov. He still remains one of the most booked popular Russian DJs, well known by clubbers for his fine taste and respected by his DJ-friends for the original playing technique.

Xploding Plastix - Sports, Not Heavy Crime

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M47Bsg6Bt3M&feature=player_embedded

ACID FOOKIN JAZZZZZZ TO ITS BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Xploding Plastix:

Xploding Plastix is the musical child of Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard Hagen. Both based in Oslo, they started making music together sometime in late ‘98 or early ‘99. After about a year of playing, sampling, programming and focused tune writing; they decided it was time to let the public hear what they’d been up to. This resulted in a 6 track demo in late ‘99. About 22 hours after first shipment, record companies were on the phone, and 4 months later, 5 out of 6 tracks had been released on various labels.

Mistabishi

Hospitals first new exclusive artist signing since 2004. Jamie Pullen aka Mistabishi is already coming with his second Hospital 12”. “No Matter What” raised eyebrows and became a dancefloor and radio anthem thanks to support from Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Jo Whiley. This time round Mistabishi shows his versatility two slice of cyberfunk on this double A side.

Falling In Love sees vocalist Danman letting loose on a dub filled ragga rinse. Pounding drums, edgy strumming and emotive lyrics are becoming a trademark in the Mista’ sound and give the track a real edge both on and off the dancefloor. It’s already a fave with Annie Mac.

She Lied kicks off with a blissful, euphoric intro before rolling into a twisted filtered behemoth. Ibiza meets the drum & bass sound of Hospitality, this one is sun kissed but tough enough to last the winter too.

His debut Album, Drop, was released on Hospital on Monday 23 February 2009.
